96 an hour 7 days ago 7 days ago 7 days ago DEFINITION Under the direction and in consultation with the Public Works Supervisor, and Senior Utility Operator assists with daily operation of water and wastewater infrastructure; maintenance of City rights of way and City facilities; assists with supervision of employees; and performs other duties as assigned.
This position is eligible for overtime.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under the direction and in consultation with the Public Works Supervisor, assists the daily operations of the Public Works Department which includes but is not limited to maintenance, distribution and treatment of the City's water and sewer systems; drainage system; maintenance of City rights of way including streets, sidewalk and landscaping; maintenance of City owned facilities; mosquito control.
Completes accurate daily reports related to water and wastewater operations.
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS Education, Training and
Experience:
High school diploma or GED is required.
Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field related to Public Works, with a minimum of two years' experience.
Knowledge of:
General knowledge of infrastructure, specifically asphalt maintenance, drainage maintenance, and landscape maintenance.
Strong knowledge of water and wastewater maintenance, and water and wastewater distribution and treatment.
Ability to:
clearly and concisely make written and verbal recommendations to supervisor; verbally give employees direction as it relates to their duties and responsibilities.
Completes accurate daily reports related to water and wastewater operations.
Licenses and Certificates:
Possession of a valid, Class C Texas driver's license, and the following licenses:
Class 'B Commercial Texas driver's license - within six months of appointment Water Class C License - within one year of appointment Wastewater Class C License - within one year of appointment Must Have Class D Water & Wastewater Licenses WORKING CONDITIONS Incumbent may be exposed to all types of environmental conditions, with noise, vibrations, fumes, odors and dust, and may work for long periods in hot, cold, wet or icy weather and high winds.
Incumbents must be able to see and hear in the normal range with or without correction and have the ability to read printed material the size of typewritten characters and communicate verbally and in written, form, and must be able to be understood.
Incumbents must be physically and mentally able to efficiently perform the duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation, without hazard to themselves or others.
Incumbents must be able to lift heavy loads up to 100 pounds.
Work around machinery with moving parts.
Incumbents must be physically able to perform strenuous work and in sufficient physical condition to safely perform the duties of the position.
Incumbent will be required to respond to callouts and emergencies after regular working hours and on weekends and must be willing to work an irregular schedule, which may include weekends, holidays, evenings, and/or varying shifts.
