Job Description:
Electrical Estimator We are looking to hire an estimator to prepare proposals/bids for electrical work.
Your central goal will be to get work for our traffic signal department.
Your tasks will include:
Find projects by reviewing CivCast, ConstructConnect, and other bid boards and by reaching out to existing customers to help them with any projects they are bidding.
Attend job walks, pre-bid meetings, and customer conferences.
Analyze plans and specifications, gathering information, and entering takeoff information in our estimating software.
Collect different quotes from subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
Analyze quotes and enter into estimating software.
Prepare proposals and other documents required by the customer that clearly convey our pricing while managing our scope of work and any associated risk.
Work with customers to ensure that all requirements are met at bid time and follow up after the bid is submitted.
Manage project award process, including contract scope of work review and project setup.
Prepare and enter project budgets into our accounting software.
Issue purchase orders and subcontract work authorizations based on the quotations you received at bid time.
Assist department manager and project managers with transition from estimation to construction management.
Manage your own time and possess the ability to navigate multiple tasks as well as prioritizing activities to ensure deadlines are met.
Other duties as assigned.
This estimator position will report to the senior estimator and department manager.
Working hours will be Monday to Friday 6 AM - 4:
30 PM.
This position is classified as exempt and is not eligible for overtime.
The job will be full-time and will report daily to our La Porte, Texas office.
Education, Experience and Other Requirements:
High School Diploma required.
Associates or bachelor's degree in construction management or business administration is a plus.
State of Texas Journeyman or Master's License Proficient in math and relevant computer programs including Microsoft Office suite, Windows, etc.
Familiarity with Deltek ComputerEase and ConEst Intellibid is a plus.
Must be self-disciplined, trustworthy, eager to learn and highly motivated to succeed.
This is a customer- and vendor-oriented position and will require suitable business casual attire and a professional demeanor.
Must possess a valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record and minimal infractions.
Must be able to pass a background check as required for working in schools and hospitals.
Must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug tests.
